Deuteronomy Chapter 31 Verse 29

For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.

Moses is predicting the corruption of the Jews. He mentions that the Jews will earn the anger of God.

See Quran 1:7, which meantions that the Jews are the ones the deserve God's wrath.

"Work of your Hands"

Many Jews point to this lamenting that it means "idolatry". However it also points to corruption of the scripture and or corruption of it's understanding.

The writings of the Prophet Jeremiah indicate both scenarios:

Jeremiah 1:16
I will pronounce my judgments on my people because of their wickedness in forsaking me, in burning incense to other gods and in worshiping what their hands have made.

Jeremiah 8:8
" 'How can you say, "We are wise, for we have the law of the LORD,"when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely?

Idolatry was common, especially among the 18 years that the Pentateuch was lost under the reign of Josiah son of Ammon.

It was common amongst Moses' time:
"For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands."
(Deuteronomy 31:29).

Corruption of the scripture was inevitable as it was also the work of their hands. In Encyclopedia Judaica, the history of the Jews is discussed.

When we read of the Talmud, it is said when Moses was on Mount Sinai collecting the 10 commandments atop it. 70 High Priests ventured someway up the Mount as well and were revealed a "oral law" given to them by "God" which was unknown to Moses and which superseded what was revealed to him.

So not only were they also corrupt concerning the understanding of the scripture at his time, they were corrupt after him while re-writing it as Jeremiah 8:8 fully indicates.
